Texas Shooter Makes No Sense

Unfortunately I don’t have the time to properly cover the incident at the University of Texas Tuesday morning. I would be remiss however if I didn’t point out a few things.

*It’s a little strange that the shooter never targeted anyone and instead was seen shooting at a median according to one witness.

*The shooter was said to have been wearing a mask but was quickly identified.

*The shooter then fled into a building and shot himself in the head.

*Coincidently a gun rights student organization had a rally planned that evening which was cancelled due to the incident

Why does the media insist on assuming this was some gun nut gone nuts? This story doesn’t seem to be consistent with that at all. Why would he kill himself before the party?

If there was some other event like a gay rights rally planned for that day wouldn’t the establishment assume that the shooter was targeting the event?

Seems the only victim today was the 2nd Amendment.

  1. Okay, you had me until the last couple of paragraphs: Why does the media insist on assuming this was some gun nut gone nuts? This story doesn’t seem to be consistent with that at all. Why would he kill himself before the party?

Which, to me, means you disagree with the assessment that the planned rally is the reason the shooter did this (and, just a side note, none of the reports I read even mentioned the rally or that conclusion).

But, then, in the next paragraph you say, If there was some other event like a gay rights rally planned for that day wouldn’t the establishment assume that the shooter was targeting the event?

Which sounds like you agree with the assessment.

It could just be that I’m not reading your article correctly, but I am confused on which you think.

    • Thanks for the comment.

The rally might have been the reason, if it was I find it more likely that the shooter was anti-gun. It wouldnt make sense to me that a ‘gun-rights nut’ would shoot up the location of a gun rights rally before even getting the chance to enjoy the festivities.

In the second paragraph you mention, Im pointing out that the media reaction always reveals double standards. You say many outlets didnt report the fact that there was a rally. This is more to my point, can you imagine them not pointing out the coincidence had it been a liberal rally?

Obviously I dont know what the shooters motiviation was. I just wanted to point out some strange details and the double standard that is always applied. Most people I talked to up here in MA never even heard about this story. Had this resulted in the cancelling of a left wing event it would have been national news for days.
